A quick guide to the LPS Chapter at Olivet Nazarene University.

The Center of Law and Culture sponsors the Olivet Nazarene University chapter of the Law and Politics Society. The club serves as the Center’s student outreach program at the university and has a mission of encouraging students to develop their awareness to their civic responsibilities. The Center works in tandem with a student elected club cabinet to achieve this mission.

In its pursuit of establishing an awareness to civic responsibility, the Society works to promote virtuous leadership qualities in students from all majors and minors. While the Society naturally includes political and law related areas of study, membership is available to all students of the university. Moreover, the Society operates to educate the entirety of the student population in order to inspire everyone, regardless of career field or calling, to be a virtuous leader in their work space, community, and their culture.

To promote cross-campus inclusion, the cabinet of the Society is composed of students from a plethora of different fields of study including Political Science, Criminal Justice, Business, History, Public Policy, and even Music Education. The members of the cabinet are dedicated to the mission of the Society and are a representation of a virtuous leaders dedicated to making a difference in the community in which they reside. The LPS cabinet is committed to serve and represent all aspects of the student body through the Society’s functions.

The Law and Politics Society is an event based club that works to provide opportunities for practical engagement with the Society’s mission to create virtuous leaders. The Society often partners with like-minded departmental clubs and specific classes to promote initiatives and causes all virtuous leaders should consider engaging. Events feature guest speakers from all over the country, student leaders, the celebration of Christian Citizenship Week Constitutional Heritage Week, and trips to serve the surrounding community. Attendance ranges anywhere from an intimate group of 20 to over 100!

The purpose of The Law and Politics Society is to help students become aware of their civic responsibilities and inspire them to become part of the overall mission of the Center. We strive to create virtuous leaders intellectually equipped to meet tomorrow’s challenges.
