“…one thing is certain. If we merge mercy with might, and might with right, then love becomes our legacy and change our children’s birthright” -Amanda Gorman

Last Wednesday, January 20th, shortly following the official beginning of the Biden administration, these powerful words from her poem “The Hill We Climb” were delivered by an Amanda Gorman—a 22-year old Harvard grad and young poet laureate from Los Angeles, California.

As The Center works in conjunction with Olivet to provide students like Amanda with an appreciation for American law and political processes, we challenge you to reflect on and appreciate Ms. Gorman’s exercise of her God-given talents to highlight the beauty and resilience of our American democracy.

The future ahead is unknown, but we, The Center, press on seeking love and change specifically through law and culture.
